Our Chapter

 

On January 13, 1979, the “Beautiful” Beta Iota Chapter was chartered at Spelman College. There was a line every year until the hiatus of 1984. In 1993, the chapter was triumphantly revived by Soror Teki Hunt, who was initiated through the Beta Beta Chapter at the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff. The chapter has been up and running ever since.

 

Soror Olivia OlaTunji - Fall 2023 initiate:

President

Olivia Olatunji is a senior Economics major, with double minors in Food Studies and Management & Organization from Frisco, Texas and currently serves as the President of the Beta Iota Chapter for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Olivia's favorite principle is sisterhood as she values and knows that mutual respect, unity and empathy are essential qualities that help communities flourish. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school to obtain her Masters in Management, with a long-term goal of becoming a franchise owner of a Nigerian restaurant. As President, Olivia is dedicated to fostering growth in the chapter and leaving a lasting legacy of genuine kindness and respect.

Soror Laila Montgomery - Fall 2023 initiate:

First Vice President

Laila Montgomery is a senior Political Science major with a minor in Comparative Women’s Studies from Centreville, Mississippi, currently serving as First Vice-President. She is deeply committed to leadership, scholarship, and service, and values the opportunity to support and uplift those around her through her role. Laila’s favorite Zeta principle is Finer Womanhood, as it reminds her to continually strive to be the best version of herself possible and lift others as she climbs. After graduation, she plans to pursue a Masters in Sports Management, focusing in global sports politics and the treatment of Black athletes.

Soror Phoenix king - spring 2025 initiate:

Second Vice President

Phoenix King is a senior Biology major from Cleveland, Ohio, currently serving as the Second Vice President for the 2025-26 academic year. Phoenix’s favorite principle is finer womanhood, as she sees and values all of the different ways that one can express and live in their femininity and womanhood. After graduation, Phoenix plans to pursue a Medical Degree to become a psychiatrist.

Soror Adrianna highgate - spring 2025 initiate:

Secretary

Adrianna Highgate is a senior Health Science major from Charlotte, North Carolina. She serves as the chapter Secretary for the 2025-2026 academic year. Her favorite Zeta principle is service. After graduation, she plans to attend a graduate school program to earn her Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree in epidemiology.

Soror genesiss hollins -

spring 2025 initiate: Parliamentarian

Genesiss Hollins is a senior Education Studies from Atlanta, Georgia and currently serves as the Parliamentarian of the Beta Iota Chapter for the 2025-2026 academic year. Genesiss’ favorite principle is Scholarship as she believes that academic excellence and ambition is the key to driving progressive change within Black and Brown communities. After graduation Genesiss plans to attend law school and obtain her Juris Doctorate, with a concentration in education law. Genesiss long term goal is to create and implement equitable education policies for low-income communities of color. As parliamentarian Genesiss is dedicated to fostering chapter engagement in administrative procedure.

Soror Aniyah Eastmond - spring 2025 initiate:

Treasurer

Aniyah Eastmond is a senior Political Science major on the Pre-Law track from Chicago, IL, and currently serves as the Tamias of the Beta Iota Chapter for the 2025–2026 academic year. Aniyah's favorite principle is Finer Womanhood, as she values the representation of women who lead with integrity while demonstrating the best versions of themselves. After graduation, she plans to attend law school to obtain her Juris Doctorate degree with the goal of practicing law in sports and entertainment. As Tamias, Aniyah is committed to fostering positive change within the chapter and leaving behind resources that will continue to support the chapter’s growth and flourishing.

Soror Kyla hutcherson - spring 2025 initiate:

Historian

Kyla Hutcherson is a junior Computer Science major with a minor in Psychology from Mableton, Georgia, currently serving as the Historian for the 2025-2026 academic year. She is passionate about preserving the legacy and achievements of her organization while documenting meaningful moments that reflect growth, sisterhood, and service. Kyla’s favorite Zeta principle is Finer Womanhood because it promotes a confident state of mind within a woman and encourages her to radiate elegance, poise, and self-assurance in every room she enters. After graduation, Kyla plans to pursue a career in data analysis, where she hopes to study data, uncover meaningful patterns, and create impactful insights and stories that drive informed decision-making.

Nila Roper is a graduating senior English major with a minor in Comparative Women’s Studies from New Rochelle, New York. Her favorite Zeta principle is service, as she believes that maintaining a dedication to one’s community, helping those in need, and working towards creating a more just society should be every Zeta’s mission. She currently serves as the Z-HOPE Coordinator for the “Beautiful” Beta Iota Chapter. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in journalism, with the goal of working for a print publication and writing about the many issues impacting marginalized communities.
